On many used vehicles, vans and motorhomes, each door is still locked with the key, one at a time. This kit adds what recent cars have as standard: a button on a key fob, every door locking together, a beep to confirm.<\/p>\n
A central control box, two remote controls, the locking motors to fit in the doors and the loom. The box also handles the usual functions: remote locking, unlocking, and on most installations, finding the vehicle by flashing the headlights.<\/p>\n
This is not an accessory you plug in: you have to remove the door panels, fit the motors to the lock rods, run the loom through the hinge grommets and connect the power. Allow half a day if you are comfortable with it, or a visit to an installer. That is the price of a feature which, on a car that lacks it from the factory, does not otherwise exist.<\/p>\n
A door left open through absent-mindedness is one of the most ordinary causes of theft from a vehicle. A single press from the pavement removes the problem.<\/p>\n
