Cordless orbital polisher — 8 speeds, 15 cm backing plate
A hand polisher that turns from 2,500 to 7,000 rpm and runs on an 18 V battery. Its 5 mm orbital movement polishes without biting into the clear coat: it is the sort of machine you can pick up having never polished a car before. Supplied with its pads, its bonnets and its apron.

Polishing bodywork, without the risk of burning the clear coat.
Key points
- 5 mm orbital movement: the heat is spread instead of building up in one spot.
- Eight speeds from 2,500 to 7,000 rpm, from spreading polish to the finish.
- 6-inch backing plate (about 15 cm), a little under 1.5 kg in the hand.
- Runs on Makita 18 V B series batteries — yours, if you already have some.
- Supplied with its three pads, five bonnets, apron and gloves.
What to know before ordering
- Type
- Orbital (5 mm throw), not rotary.
- Vitesse
- Eight settings from 2,500 to 7,000 rpm.
- Plateau
- 6 pouces, environ 15 cm.
- Batterie
- Makita 18 V B series: BL1830, BL1840, BL1850, BL1820B, BL1430B and B variants, from 2.0 to 5.0 Ah.
- Batteries non compatibles
- G series (BL1813G, BL1413G, BL1415G, BL1430G, BL1815G) and old Ni-Cd batteries.
- Indicator
- Three colours for the battery state: green, amber, red.
- Weight and casing
- ABS shell, a little under 1.5 kg.
What is in the box
- The polisher, its flat foam pad, its waffle pad and its wool pad.
- Abrasive paper and five bonnets: microfibre, woven, wool.
- Apron, gloves, charger, and one or two batteries depending on the pack chosen.
How to use it safely
- Wash and dry the car before polishing: a grain of sand left on the paint becomes a scratch under the pad.
- On an old or resprayed car, try an inconspicuous spot first: the clear coat there is sometimes thin.
- A polisher removes only what is in the clear coat. A scratch you can catch with a fingernail is too deep to polish out.
Check before you buy
- If you already have Makita batteries, check that they are the B series and not the G: the G series is not compatible.
- Plan to work in the shade, on cold bodywork: the sun dries the polish before it has done its work.
- Allow half a day for a whole car if you are starting out, in sections of about 40 × 40 cm.

Description
Machine polishing, without the risk of a rotary
A rotary polisher always turns on the same part of the pad: one moment of inattention on the same spot, and the clear coat heats up and then burns. This one is orbitale — the plate traces small 5 mm circles on top of its rotation, which spreads the heat. It is slower, and that is precisely what makes it usable by a beginner.
Eight speeds for four stages
From 2,500 to 7,000 rpm: low speeds to spread a polish or a wax, medium speeds to make the abrasive work, high speeds for the finish. A three-colour indicator shows the battery state — green, amber, red.
Works with Makita 18 V, B series batteries
The tool takes batteries BL1830, BL1840, BL1850, BL1820B, BL1430B and their B variants, from 2.0 to 5.0 Ah. It does not take not the G series (BL1813G, BL1413G, BL1415G, BL1430G, BL1815G) nor the old Ni-Cd batteries. If you already have compatible Makita batteries, the ones supplied become spares.
Before polishing
A polisher removes only what is in the clear coat, and only on clean bodywork: a grain of sand left on the paint becomes a scratch under the pad. Wash, dry, and work in the shade on cold bodywork, in sections of about 40 × 40 cm. On an old or resprayed car, start somewhere inconspicuous.

When it earns its place
The first time you polish
That is the value of an orbital: it forgives. Where a rotary burns the clear coat in a moment of inattention, this one spreads the heat — it is slower, and that is what makes it possible to pick up without experience.
Wash swirl marks
The fine cobweb pattern you see in sunlight on dark paint: it is in the clear coat, so it is exactly what polishing corrects.
The car you are putting back on the market
Polished bodywork before the listing photos changes the perception of a vehicle far more than a wash alone.
The seasonal wax
Spreading a wax or a protective polish at low speed, twice a year, without doing it by hand for three hours.
Questions we are asked about this product
Can I burn the paint with it?
It is far harder than with a rotary, and that is the reason for choosing this kind of machine. The plate traces small 5 mm circles on top of its rotation: the heat is spread instead of building up in one spot. Work in the shade all the same, on cold bodywork, and keep moving.
Mes batteries Makita fonctionnent-elles ?
If they are the B series — BL1830, BL1840, BL1850, BL1820B, BL1430B and their variants, from 2.0 to 5.0 Ah — yes. The G series (BL1813G, BL1413G, BL1415G, BL1430G, BL1815G) and old Ni-Cd batteries are not compatible.
Does it remove every scratch?
No. It corrects what is in the clear coat: wash swirls, dull haze, wiping marks. A scratch you can catch with a fingernail has gone through the clear coat, and no polishing will remove it.
Which speed for what?
Low speeds to spread a polish or a wax, medium speeds to make the abrasive work, high speeds for the finish. The three-colour indicator tells you the battery state while you go.
How long for a whole car?
Allow half a day when starting out, working in sections of about 40 × 40 cm. It is slow work: that is normal, and it is what gives the result.
How long is delivery?
This product ships from a warehouse in France: delivery is faster than our usual times.
